Changes to Additional Studies

Dear Parent/Carer

As our first cohort of students enters Year 11 we have taken the opportunity to look at how Additional Studies is organised. To allow for more systematic intervention and support of students in Key Stage 4 we are now planning to move Additional Studies, after school sessions, to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday rather than as they are at present Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

All other school day arrangements will remain as they are and there will be no changes to the core academy day which runs from 8.25 a.m. to 3.40 p.m. every day.

Often, parental involvement in a child’s education reduces when they reach secondary school. At The City Academy, Hackney we are committed to ensuring that does not happen. A key factor in the academic and personal success of young people is their parents’ engagement in their education and the communication by the school of successes and challenges, and what can be done to help at any early stage.

Staff, students and their parents and carers have all made a significant contribution to the academy’s vision and success. Ofsted 2012
